Aims and objectives

The Links Foundation was established as a company with charitable status in 2003. It followed a period of operation of a Community Reinvestment Fund, which was set up in 2000 and directly managed by Working Links (Employment) Ltd through a National Partners Forum. Working Links wished to ensure that awards made by the Foundation could not be influenced by commercial factors but would be solely determined by the Foundation’s own aims and objectives.

The Aim, Objectives and Criteria were - and remain - clear. They are:

Aim

To benefit communities throughout the UK by providing, or assisting, in the provision of facilities or services necessary to improve their conditions of life. This will be achieved by supporting projects which meet the following criteria:

Advancing people’s education
Reducing significant disadvantage
Assisting those in conditions of poverty, need or distress
Providing for recreational or other leisure time occupation

However, this is not an exclusive list and the trustees will consider other criteria when there are special circumstances.

Our objectives and principles are to:

Reinvest money back into the communities where Working Links operates (but not exclusively those communities)
Invest in worthwhile community projects where funding is not available elsewhere
Promote community working
React to an urgent need within a community
